Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She was co-founder of The Huffington Post, is the CEO and founder of Thrive Global as well an writer of 15 novels. Arianna Huffington is an author, philanthropist, television host, and also the proprietor of The Huffington Post. After moving from Greece to England from Greece at 16, she received a MA with a major in Economics from Cambridge University. When she was 21, she became the president of the renowned debate club The Cambridge Union' and was the first non-native student in the history of Cambridge University to be elected. As a conservative syndicated blogger when she graduated, she became an influential voice for the Huffington Post. In part, her fame led to the recruitment of a variety of renowned contributors. Arianna became famous in 2003 after she decided to run independently in the California recall election to replace the Governor Davis. She was also involved in the Detroit-based initiative that advocated for efficient vehicles that use less fuel. In 2009 she was named by Forbes as one of the top women in the media, achieving 12th position in the list and in the same year, the Guardian named her to the top 100 of media lists. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her as president of the media group that also includes the other AOL products like Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. The parents of her were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos. They were who was a consultant in management as well as a journalist. She was extremely close to her father, but it was the relationship she had with her mother that shaped her. When she was a teen she displayed leadership qualities that she's still known for. In her 16th year, she returned to the UK to pursue her studies and was enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. In her time at college, she joined the debating group Cambridge Union where she became the third foreign, and first female president. She graduated in 1972 with a Master's Degree in Economics. Her professional career as TV host and journalist was born after graduation. Alongside Bernard Levin she appeared on the show Face the music.
