Taylor
Taylor Swift, the rarest pop sensation, is one who managed to move from the country genre to mainstream pop culture and become an icon of the pop world. She also conquered all over the world through her music. Swift removed herself from country music as if she was a second skin, and revealed she had the finest pop sensibility of the time. Swift was the only singer/songwriter who knew how to be a part of the trending zeitgeist and take it on the road. The evidence was clear in her early songs, particularly in her neo tribute to Tim McGraw. On her album Fearless (2008), Swift showed a songwriter getting to know herself. The album was able to have significant appeal not just within the U.S. where it racked seven platinum singles due to the Top Ten hits Love Story and You Belong with Me but throughout the world performing particularly well with Canada, the U.K. Canada and Australia. Swift's Speak Now album released two years ago, consolidated her prior success, and catapulted the singer into superstardom. Her popularity only increased with her following three albums -- Red (2012) 1989 (2014) as well as Reputation (2017) -- and saw her move confidently into a pop realm that she had already been a part of. She stayed in the forefront of pop even when she dropped her own style on her sister albums Folklore and Evermore in the year 2020.
